New Game Zone -’Battle for Hürtgen Forest’

Our New Game Zone is now finally under construction and has a name ‘Battle for Hürtgen Forest‘ and is based

around the longest battle of World War II lasting nearly 5 months and costing more than 61 000 lives.

The Americans′ initial objectives were to take the town of Schmidt and clear the Monschau-Düren road via the Kall Bridge cutting off the German supply route.

The German defenders had prepared the area with blockhouses, minefields, barbed wire, and booby-traps and the dense forest allowed infiltration and flanking attacks and it was sometimes difficult to establish a front line or to be confident that an area had been cleared of the enemy. The small numbers of routes and clearings had also allowed German machine-gun, mortar and artillery teams to pre-range their weapons and fire accurately causing high casualties and slowing the American advance.

The game will centre on the taking of the Kall Bridge and this will not be easy so prepare for high casualties to reach the objective.

The bridge we have built is made from Steel and measures 45 ft long and over 11 ft wide so its the real thing.

November walk on

This was the best attended walk on so far at Revenge. Thanks to every one who played. I think that the bonfire and a few fireworks helped to make it the a success.

The Bridge

Will it ever arrive? Sorry it wasn’t ready for the last walk on but it is under construction and it is certainly starting to look quite impressive.

Young Guns and Militia

The new reel game has worked great on the last couple of young guns and militia days. To be honest the smaller size of barricade, yet with plenty of them seems to favour the young gunner’s size and style. So if you have not tried the reels yet come along to the next young guns or militia day and check it out.

There is always a lot of talk in the safe zone about shooting technique and yet just like driving nobody admits to – doing it badly. In fact there should be no accidents on Britain’s roads at all if peoples assessment of their own driving skills was taken at face value.

So what have I learnt about marksmanship in paintball? Well firstly that there is no advantage to having shot other types of guns such as shotguns or rifles. In fact it is in my own view a positive disadvantage. For one thing you tend to look down the barrel and aim with one eye shut in order to sight a line between the fore sight on the gun and the target. In paintball this is just plain wrong. Both eyes open, pull the trigger and watch the paint into the target seems to be the best method.

Putting plenty of paint down does also seem to help, probably on the theory that even if you are not hitting anybody at least you are keeping the oppositions heads down, therefore allowing you and your team mates to move.
